TikTok Announces ‘TikTok World’ Showcase Event for September 28th
Currently, TikTok is the most popular social media platform, with its never-ending stream of light-hearted video clips providing entertainment for an increasing number of users around the world. The app is consistently at the top of the download charts, and it is poised to become a legitimate competitor to Facebook and Instagram in the near future.
So, what is the plan for the platform going forward? Is it possible for TikTok to continue to develop and adapt in accordance with user expectations, and to establish itself as a legitimate, major, and continuing competitor to the established companies in the space?
TikTok World, the company’s first-ever showcase event, will take place in Los Angeles next month, and we’ll get a better sense of it then.
The event will serve as a preview of what is to come from TikTok in the future, but the specifics of the program schedule have not yet been published in their entirety.
It sounds similar to Facebook’s F8 and Snapchat’s Partner Summit events, where each platform presents an overview of their various projects, and insights on what they’re working on bringing to market.
This will most likely include new eCommerce capabilities and expanded integration possibilities for TikTok, which will allow companies to collaborate with relevant platform influencers for promotional purposes. Besides short-form video, TikTok is experimenting with longer-form video, which may open the door to new possibilities, and it is also experimenting with sophisticated live-streaming capabilities.
As part of its AR Effect Studio initiative, TikTok is developing a tool that will allow artists to create their own augmented reality effects, which may be included in the TikTok World display.
They could even provide some early info on TikTok’s plans for virtual reality, with TikTok’s parent company ByteDance recently purchasing VR headset maker Pico. Could that see TikTok clips merging into virtual form, with dance crazes that you can participate in with your VR avatar, as opposed to traditional video clips?
Even if it is hard to anticipate how TikTok will go in this regard, it is noteworthy that the app is already looking forward to the next stage in order to stay up with changing trends.
Since previously said, there isn’t much information available at this time, as the event is only accessible for early media registration at this time.
We’ll keep you informed as soon as any announcements are made.
